Inspired by the rugged landscape of the Northumberland Countryside, The Northumberland Shepherd Hut Company hand make bespoke Shepherd Huts using reclaimed wood and other salvaged or handmade materials. Before they started making Huts, Paul and Susan Walsh founded Trunk Reclaimed, a company that creates furniture, Kitchens and accessories from reclaimed wood.
Bespoke Shepherd Huts
The Northumberland Hut Company offer a truly bespoke experience. Each Shepherds Hut is completely unique, designed by the customer, with a little help. Pricing is based on the size of the Hut with a 10ft x 8ft costing £14000, a 16ft x 8ft costing £18500, and a 20ft x 8ft costing £21500. These prices include a solid oak chassis created from reclaimed wood, a 27mm thick oak sub floor and a 25mm thick reclaimed pine internal floor. Handmade iron work wheels, tie bar, steering bar and stub axles all act to mobilise your hut. Light enters through a single oak double glazed window and single oak door with a double glazed window. The corrugated cladded exterior of the Shepherd Hut, along with the roof, can be fitted in any colour of your choosing with 3” sheep wool in all the walls, the floor and the roof. The Shepherds Hut is then covered with a breathable and waterproof membrane to make sure the weather remains on the outside. The interior is cladded in pine in any colour of your choice with solid, curved, reclaimed pine roofing beams running throughout.
Reclaimed Wood Interior
Due to their background working with reclaimed wood, Pail and Susan also offer to hand make the furniture for your Shepherd Hut. With a list of the furniture that will be required, it will be priced up and you can have your Hut delivered with all furniture included. On top of all this, The Northumberland Shepherd Hut Company make their Huts to last, with a lifespan of over 100 years!
