Eriksson Architects in collaboration with Finnish ecological specialist Eero Paloheimo Eco City Ltd have unveiled plans for a new ‘Ecological Silicon Valley’. The area, which is close to Beijing, will combine research institutes for science and innovation with environmental living. The aim is to aspire to carbon neutral living, and to create an environmental footprint at a third of normal levels. The residential villages will house 50,000 people and the eco city will produce all of its own water.
Currently, the master plan is awaiting approval from Chinese authorities, after which the developers will begin to seek out funding and potential business partners.
