Company founder, Greg, started his business after the unprecedented interest he received in a towbow Wagon he had built for his own leisure pursuits. Realising there were many who felt passionate about the caravans, he decided to dedicate his time and energy to building them in order to keep the tradition of this rare form of travel alive.
Known as ‘Bowtops’, ‘Gypsy Wagons’, ‘Whoopie Wagons’, ‘Towbows’, ‘Romany Caravans’ or ‘Vardo’ (to name a few) these beautiful car-towable caravans can be towed by a car. Historically ‘Whoopie Wagons’ became popular in the 1950‘s when increased traffic started making the roads more precarious for horse drawn travel and motor vehicles were becoming a popular mode of transport with the Romany people.
An appealing alternative to a towable caravan, Gypsy Bowtops are supplied with an IVA (Individual Vehicle assessment) certificate after being tested by the DVLA. They are easy to tow and are built, using natural materials, on a brand new caravan chassis.
Greg’s Gypsy Bowtops can be hired for private or corporate events, or for glamping accommodation at UK festivals. They can also be bought directly from Greg, from his Bristol HQ, with bespoke commissions available on request.
