Located in Northern California’s beautiful Mendocino Coast, Mendocino Grove is a glamping site where visitors can enjoy both the tranquil surroundings, and the luxurious accommodation and amenities on offer. Set on a forest bluff overlooking the Pacific ocean, Mendocino Grove is ideally situated, just a two minute drive or twenty minute walk from the village of Mendocino.
Founded by Teresa Raffo and Chris Hougie, the area that would become Mendocino Grove was originally a neglected campground that was acquired by the couple in 2016. Over the course of the next year, the campground was restored to its former beauty managing to retain its rustic feel while adding a lot of luxury. Assisting Teresa and Chris was Wade Hine, a celebrated San Francisco interior designer, who helped with the creative vision of Mendocino Grove
The accommodation at the site comprises of 60 Safari style tents set over 37 acres. There are two different types of tents to choose from when booking, the Classic Tent which measures 12’ by 14’, and the larger Family Tents which comes in at 16’ by 20’. Each unit is fully outfitted with comfortable beds, warm down comforters, wool blankets, crisp cotton linens, lanterns, and more. On top of this, each of the tents has a limited power supply, capable of powering bedside lamps and heated mattress pads. The tents sit slightly above the ground on a wooden platform featuring a redwood deck along with leather butterfly chairs to sit back and take in the surroundings. Each individual campsite also includes a fire ring and picnic table.
The amenities offered at Mendocino Grove are extensive. Luxurious bathroom facilities with hot showers, complimentary EO body care products, fresh cotton towels, and well-appointed restrooms are scattered across the site for the guests convenience. A communal area, named the Meadow Commons, includes a large deck tables and chairs, string lights, and a group campfire ring.
