Certainly Wood is the UK’s largest specialist producer of kiln dried logs and kindling, all sourced from within a 100 mile radius of its base in Herefordshire.
Brothers George and Nic Snell who set the business up as part of a farm diversification in 2005 are proud of the fact that all their firewood and kindling is 100% British and sustainable. Nic Snell MD explained “Eco friendly production is part of the ethos of our family farming business and this is why we use all our wood waste to fire our 7 kilns and solar power to provide some of our electricity”.
As part of the drive to reduce plastic, their log bags are now 100% recyclable and made using recycled material. Even their Flamers natural firelighters, which are also made on site, will now have the window panel made from corn starch, rather than plastic.
Certainly Wood now supplies over 100 glamping and campsites sites across the UK and it is a rapidly growing sector. The attraction has been the quality of the product and variety of packs that cater for different campsite needs. Logs that are still available packed in plastic bags to keep the wood dry are packed in a 100% recyclable bag, made using recycled material.
