The first ever West Midlands Tourism Awards have taken place and the winners from each category have been announced.

Brought to you by The West Midlands Growth Company (WMGC), their website states that the awards were created to:

“celebrate the success of tourism businesses across the region and promote the strength of the business and leisure tourism offer, its venues, people, experiences and accommodation.

They also serve to highlight the importance of tourism’s contribution to the regional economy – currently standing at £12.6bn – which the WMGC, with their industry partners, seeks to grow over the coming 10 years, using major events including UK City of Culture 2021 in Coventry and the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games as a springboard.”

The winners of the awards will also be automatically nominated for the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2020 gaining the opportunity to be recognised on a national level.

The awards ceremony took place at the University of Birmingham on the 26th of February and was hosted by Homes Under The Hammer TV presenter Martin Roberts.

Awards up for grabs included B&B/Guesthouse of the Year, Business Events Venue of the Year, Ethical, Responsible & Sustainable Tourism, Large and Small Hotels of the Year among many others.

But of course, the category we’re interested in is the Camping, Glamping, Holiday Park of the Year. Here are the results:

Gold – Ettie’s Field

Silver – Hencote

Bronze – Hopley’s Family Camping

Fourth – Hill Farm Glamping
