Tell us a bit about your company – how did it begin?
It all began 7 years ago after researching the market for outdoor living. There was a major gap for quality products on this island, so I decided to set up The Great Outdoors BBQ Co. We specialise in middle to high end BBQs, furniture, camping equipment, towable trailers and rooftop tents. Our more recent addition to the business is importing and selling eco domes for glamping sites, besides offering fire pits and cooking equipment to suit all setups.
What product(s) do you offer for the glamping industry?
Eco domes, fire pits, wood, charcoal, gas cooking equipment, gazebos, indoor and outdoor kitchen modules, and outdoor stoves.
What type of fuel is needed?
Wood, charcoal or gas.
Probably the most important question: with energy bills rising, what are the approximate running costs for site owners?
It does vary depending on different setups.
Can the heat and/or flame height be adjusted?
Yes.
Are they suitable for off-grid sites?
Yes.
What safety features do you offer/recommend?
Gas fires are easy to turn off and stove doors should remain closed, so no embers can fall out.
What factors are there to consider when determining placement? e.g. Can they be placed on decking, grass, or concrete, or under a pergola?
Most models can be placed on any surface as long as it is level. Some stoves would need a minimum of 3m clearance if under a canopy.
Do you offer weatherproofing – will they need to be covered when not in use?
Yes.
How easy is the installation; can owners do it themselves or do you offer a service?
It’s a very easy setup, owners can do it themselves.
