Fukuoka, Japan, has a new ocean front glamping site with dreamy dome tents, which opened this month.
Located in Uminonakamichi Seaside Park and operated by Inn The Park, this waterfront facility features 13 spherical tents that appear to float above water and emanate a cosy warm glow after sunset, with a capacity of up to 4 people.
There are also 12 traditional yurts, to accommodate 2 to 8 people each. Both the tents and yurts are available from March through to November, but this site hasn’t let the cold weather get in its way; there are also stunning cabins and suite rooms overlooking Hakata Bay year-round.
Various glamping and camping experiences alike have become more common in the past few years, ranging from temple camping to uninhabited island camping experiences. However, a lot of sites aren’t easily accessible by train or other forms of public transport.
Inn the Park is highly accessible to both Fukuoka residents and those just visiting, located just a few minutes’ walk from Uminonakamichi Station. It’s described as a “Treasure Island” where both adults and children can spend time relaxing whilst feeling close to nature.
If you manage to step away from wistfully staring at the ocean view, the area offers heaps of activities for non-stop entertainment. It wouldn’t be a true Japanese experience without onset hot springs, of course, as well as a spacious bath and vinyl record room. It’s all set within a national park that boasts a zoo, an aquarium and lush flower gardens for people of all ages to enjoy.
Just one night might not be enough! Inn the Park offers two main dining areas: an outdoor barbecue for the classic camping experience and a dome-shaped restaurant serving French-inspired cuisine in the evening.
Rates for one night currently start at ¥15,000 (approx. £94 or €113) per person per night.
