New data from Sage Outdoor Advisory offers a snapshot of the US glamping market, highlighting the accommodation types and amenities commanding the strongest nightly rates.
The 2026 Glamping Market Overview draws on data from 565 glamping properties across the US, providing insight into pricing, accommodation formats and the features that can influence revenue. While the full dataset is available through Sage Outdoor Advisory’s paid report, the headline figures provide some useful benchmarks for operators and developers.
Safari tents remain the most common unit type in the dataset, accounting for 25% of properties, with an average nightly rate of $375. Cabins represent 22% of properties and average $354 per night, while tiny homes account for 19%, with an average nightly rate of $259.
Airstreams make up 7% of the properties surveyed, averaging $298 per night, while yurts account for 5%, with an average rate of $257.
The data also highlights a significant premium for certain accommodation formats. Mirror cabins command the highest average nightly rate at $458, suggesting that distinctive architecture and design can translate into meaningful pricing power in the US glamping market.
Amenities appear to have an impact on rates too. Properties with hot tubs achieve an average $49 higher nightly rate, while having a restaurant on site is associated with an average additional $146 per night.
These figures offer an interesting insight into the economics of glamping: the accommodation itself is only part of the value proposition. Design, privacy, wellness amenities and food and beverage can all play a role in how operators position their product and what guests are prepared to pay.
The findings also reinforce the importance of looking beyond occupancy when assessing a glamping site’s performance. A higher nightly rate can potentially be achieved through the right combination of accommodation design, amenities and on-site experiences, although the additional capital and operating costs behind those features need to be considered.
With the full Sage Outdoor Advisory report containing considerably more market data and analysis, the headline figures provide only a snapshot of the wider picture.
The data gives US operators useful benchmarks for pricing and product development, while highlighting how accommodation design and high-value amenities can influence revenue potential – valuable considerations when planning new units, upgrades or diversification.
